Miss Burrows

Here is an overview of the areas of learning the Infants will be looking at this term.

The topic for the Infants this term is called ‘The Potting Shed.’

History: Who is George Forrest? What did he discover? Why is he important today?

Science: What do plants need to grow? What is the structure of a plant? What habitats might we find outside?

Art: Who is Vincent Van Gough? Can we create a piece of work like his? We will be learning how to sketch to create spider’s webs and pictures of fruit and vegetables.

ICT: Learning about algorithms and how to store and retrieve data. Creating fact sheets using ICT.

PSHE: Learning about healthy eating and how to stay ‘sugar smart.’

In addition to the topic areas above, we will also be using our creative skills during our WOW weeks.

Children in the Infants are expected to read for 5-10 minutes each night, either a school book or Active Learn book and this should be logged in their reading record. Currently the new spelling scheme requires children to complete a spelling sheet and learn 5-10 spellings which incorporate the spelling rule taught in class that week. Spellings will be tested on a Tuesday morning.

Thank you for your continued support at home. Any queries or concerns regarding your children’s learning please ask.

Thank you,

Miss L Burrows.
