Miss Burrows

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to the new school year and to welcome our new Reception children to our school. We have a very exciting term planned whereby we will be investigating a topic called, ‘All about Me!’ During this topic we will be finding out about how we grow, where we live and applying our wonderful skills to art, music and technology lessons. I have detailed below the areas of learning this will encompass. PE days will remain the same, a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, but please ensure your child has a PE kit in school each day.

There will be a slight change from last year as each child will now be given a homework diary and all homework and reading will now be recorded in this one book. Children in the infants are expected to read for 10 minutes each night and their progress should be recorded in their homework diary. Please remind your child to put their book in the allocated box in the classroom, should they require a new reading book.

Spelling homework for years 1 and 2 will be sent home weekly and their spelling test should take place on the Tuesday of the following week. Additional homework may be set and due in dates will be recorded in your child’s homework diary.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to this new school year!

Kind regards,

L Burrows.
