PTA SCHOOL NOTICES SCHOOL FORMS CALENDAR

Welcome to Bradley Primary School. We are conveniently situated on the outskirts of Ashbourne Derbyshire, just off the A517 Ashbourne to Belper trunk road on Yew Tree Lane Bradley. Telephone 01335 - 370292. Headteacher Ms. Jane E. Powell MA.

Bradley School is a small, friendly primary school in an idyllic rural location, offering children an excellent start to their educational life, in a safe village location.

The school offers small classes; top quality teaching in all National Curriculum subjects and many additional benefits. As well as academic excellence we also have a strong emphasis on good behaviour, self - confidence and independent learning in order to encourage children to achieve their full potential.

Our last OFSTED inspection said "....teaching engages pupils and brings subjects to life. As a result, pupils are keen to learn and work hard."

We achieve excellent academic results.  As a small school we are not allowed to publish the results of our SATs tests, however the vast majority of children reach, or exceed national expectations.

The School’s Vision Statement

In partnership with parents…

·       We will create a safe environment where staff and pupils feel valued and respected and where differences are celebrated.

·       We will develop creativity, respect for the environment and a thirst for learning in each child.

·       We will use the widest range of opportunities and resources, in and beyond the classroom, to enable every individual to achieve their full potential.

·       We will provide all pupils with a sound moral, spiritual, social and educational grounding, within the care and support of the church and community, to prepare them for a confident life in the future.

Your child will receive the best primary education in the region. Bradley School is very proud of its academic achievements.

One of our recognised strengths is creativity and imagination within "The Arts". Your child will benefit from our achievements and rewards.

Our achievements in Sport and Physical education include:

In our Personal, Social and Health Education we have gained three national awards in the last two years, and won the Derbyshire Pupil Participation prize for 'Relationships and Sex Education'. PSHE is now more than ever a vital part of young adult learning.

There has been a school at Bradley since 1873.  We are very proud of our long history. Quite a lot has changed and improved in that time. We've added inside toilets for a start! The children wear smart blue uniform. Above all, the curriculum has changed. The children learn subjects never dreamed of in Victorian times - technology, computers, Spanish, PSHE (personal, social and health education)

At the same time we believe we have maintained the friendly family atmosphere and strong links with our local community that have always existed. We continue to uphold traditional values and take part in traditional activities such as maypole dancing and carol singing around the village.

Partnership between parents and staff is of prime importance in the progress of individual children.  Parents are encouraged to share in their child’s education, and through mutual support enable each child to do the best he or she can.

Children benefit tremendously from knowing that parents and teachers are interested in and value their performance at school in all areas of the curriculum.

The school has an ‘open door’ policy where parents are welcome to come in at any time to see the children at work and share their learning experiences.  Volunteer helpers are always welcome.

The Headteacher and members of staff are always willing to discuss any problems or concerns that parents may have regarding their child’s welfare and education.  Bearing in mind the fact that all teachers have a full-time teaching commitment it would be helpful if parents wishing to talk at length would visit outside normal teaching hours or phone for an appointment.

Open evenings and parental interviews are held at regular intervals to allow more formal discussion of individual children’s progress.
